What can you do to help us. Here is a few things to start with:

1. Pray. I have always had a hard time with prayer as it never seems to be as visible as I want it to be. I am learning more day by day through my life and that of others that prayer does work, and it is consistent. In that I would suggest the best and most important thing you can do is pray. If you say "I am not sure how to" just remember prayer is talk with God who created you. If you can sit down and talk with a friend and tell them about your day and about your needs, you can talk with God in the same way. Albeit God is quite holier than our closest friend, but, he is more than willing to listen if you would only give him the time and the chance. He is the one with the best listening abilities, and the only one with the resources to truly answer you. I can understand how we see things and that we do not always see the answers, at least not in the way we want to, but he does answer. I can assure you of this.

2. Talk to everyone you know about the poor, the needy, the widowed, the hungry, the homeless. Ask if they can help, ask how they can help, or how you might be able to help them. There are many, many good organizations out there that help the needy. If you are not sure about an organization there are many places you can use to check if they are on the level. Ask them what amount of the money you give goes to the people they are helping. Some organizations, like Mercy Corp. send 95% of every dollar donated to the people they are helping. Others, like Goodwill give less than 50%. It is up to you where you want your help to go, but be sure to be wise in who and how you help.

3. We are always looking for people, product and monetary donations. We need "geeky" people to help set up networks, communications, and other technical applications at all times. Some are needed right here in the US, others in other countries for limited amounts of time. We hope to help more and more over the coming years. If you, or someone you know, have always wanted to help but figured you were not "beefy" enough to build houses or lift rail road ties, be assured we can use you. God gave you brains for a reason, and now you can put them to good use.

We are also looking for donations of computers, monitors (flat panels,) software, VIOP phone systems, IP video cameras, Solar panels and regulators, GPS systems, deep cell batteries, wind generators, WIFI and WIMAX equipment and much more. If you work at a place that produces these products you can help by talking with your management to see if they will donate product. We need 20 computer and monitors with software for each computer lab we set up. We have a need for a constant supply of solar panels and regulators. We can use engineers and electricians as well as programmers and Windows/Linux/Cisco techs. If you can build web servers, DNS servers, Caching servers, and the like, we can use you.

We can also always use money. It takes a lot to put all this together and no one here takes a salary. We all earn our own keep so as not to take from those who really need it. If you are able to give, or know of someone who can, please ask them. There are a lot of people who have money allocated yearly to give to non-profits, and have no idea where to give. If you let them know of a need, a lot of time they will be more than happy to help. We also work with other agencies and help them when we have extra funds.

4. Be aware of those around you. There are many hurting and needy people right there in the community you live in. Seek them out. Be there for them. Take the chance and you can bet they will become grateful for your help, and you may make some great friends along the way. You may be all that is standing between them and success in their life. Be brave - give it a chance!
